There's a group for you to seek help wtih. Thinking of moving to SD? Breweries in SD to visit. SD area Burrito Rating System. Use the "Get it Done" app from the city of SD to report and track it. Need a more graphical list of contact numbers for city issues? Is it safe to drive to Ensenada? My bf and I are looking to have a little weekend away somewhere not too far.
We wanted to leave early Saturday morning and get a hotel somewhere where there is stuff to do! We originally thought Vegas, but don't really want to sit in the car for 5 hours there and back. We went to Rosarito Beach a few months ago in the car and it was fine. But how is it to drive further down to Ensenada? Get Mexican car insurance!
Your regular insurance stops at the border. Baja Bound makes it very easy to get. I just drove the road a few weeks ago and everything is fine. There is some minor construction on the toll road in a few places, but nothing to be concerned about.

Definitely check out Valle de Guadalupe! There are a ton of great wineries and restaurants and it is a great place to spend the afternoon. Looks like the fires are mostly contained: The drive to Ensenada is just an hour longer past Rosarito.
Want to add to the...
The road is the same, it doesn't turn crappy or anything like that, just keep going from Rosarito. When I went this summer they were doing construction and repairs on the road which slowed down traffic a bit in some spots as they funnel traffic into a single lane but it wasn't a major delay or anything like that. There are 3 toll booths on the way there and back so make sure to have enough change, and keep the receipt which is your proof of payment and I believe entitles you to help along the road road side assistance, ambulance, etc Having said that, when I was looking up the Tijuana fire I also found it Rosarito and Ensenada are also dealing with their own fires.
I don't think they'd impact your visit but just an FYI. I don't want to be a downer but I'd stay home this weekend rather than go to Mexico. This is coming from someone who has recently fallen in love with Baja California - the worry comes from the wildfires. It's still a pretty unknown factor with how the conditions have been. I personally wouldn't want to be stranded in a foreign country with an emergency happening.
Oh, forgot to mention, if you're looking for a Is it safe to travel to ensenada I can recommend Hotel La Pinta, their rooms are recently renovated, it was all very clean and they give guests a wrist band so that no random people go into the hotel areas.
Brilliant is it safe to travel to ensenada new xxx video
If you want fancier, resort style stay check out Estero Beach resort, it's further south but it's nice. Whatever you do avoid the hotel Costa Ensenada, it's the dirtiest, crappiest, piece of shit place I've ever stayed at. Is it safe to travel to ensenada literally would have preferred camping than sleeping here. It was so dirty we slept in our street clothes because we didn't want to get anything else of our stuff dirty.
Just get Mexican car insurance, and while your in Ensenada, drive up to the Valle de Guadalupe. Valle de Guadalupe is nothing short of magnificent!
A newly issued travel advisory...
Skip all of whatever you were planning and spend the whole time there. PM me if you'd like specific recommendations I've been to pretty much every winery, hotel and restaurant in the valley! Valle de Guadalupe is an excellent weekend destination.
Some useful info here: The wine country there is great. Though they don't have as many of the sweeter wines, which I prefer. We usually go to this place and get the chamorro with a three chili tequila sauce. If you can, find a hotel that will issue you a fast Is it safe to travel to ensenada for the border - cuts down the wait time.
I believe Las Rocas in Rosarito has them. Take the toll highway all the way down, two hours you get there. That road is smooth, better than a hell lot of roads down here actually.
Only thing is right after crossing and before the toll road, the city part is a little tricky. My wife is so sick of me making the same comment over and over again about how much better quality the autopista is than California highways. I would wait till after Xmas once the holiday shopping is finished.
This time of year, the border wait is ridiculous.
On Sunday's it can easily be 3 hours. You can skip the toll booths if you follow the locals. Make sure you have enough money to bribe the cops if you get pulled over.
Why wouldn't it be safe? You've been to Rosarito so the only difference is a longer drive on scenic road to a nice tourist town. To each their own, and I'm not particularly risk adverse, but I have zero interest in going to Mexico anymore, and especially in my own car.
Too many stories have scared me. I'd rather go to vegas or up the coast a little bit. If you end up going though have fun and stay safe!
Thanks for responding to my personal opinion that puts down no one by being a dick. No, and I don't mean to be snarky when I say to refer to our federal experts instead of a social network.
Not to minimize these travel advisories, but other countries have similar warnings about travel to the United States. You're right about other countries posting similar warnings, but then they're correct that it's not without significant risk to visit even the US - heck, Is it safe to travel to ensenada are parts of San Diego worth avoiding if you're street smart.
OP asked "will it be safe," and it's simply not totally safe to take that trip and there is, reasonably, considerable risk to consider and mitigate before going. I didn't bottom line my answer as "don't go.
It's not 'totally safe' to walk through San Diego at night, either. As far as risk goes, if someone wants to drive to mexico, go to some popular bars and restaurants at night and stay in a decent hotel, the risk is similar to doing the same here.
OMG this is ridiculous and this sub is putting people at risk. Nobody should conflate a drive into Mexico with waltzing about North Park. Almost all the responses to OP are irresponsible and naive. Please show me a statistic for crime against tourists in Mexico specifically Baja that backs this up. The State Dept warning provided those facts and trends, and if you want validation then I'd imagine a quick web search will back up the feds' warnings.
Is Baja Safe?
This is serious stuff, not web troll games. As I said, if you want to limit your risk of unnatural death to the max, stay home. After all, there are 1.
BUT things get really fun when you Is it safe to travel to ensenada the San Diego homicide rate. Turns out you have a 7 in k chance of being murdered in San Diego.
So if you want to be REALLY safe you should probably move to Rosarito and when some other Americans come down to visit try to tell them how dangerous it would be to return.
Animal Rescue only - direct number Answer 1 of We have a wedding to attend in Ensenada and we're flying to San Diego. What is the safest way to get to there? Some friends. The "do not travel" warning included the Mexican states of Colima, areas in Baja California, which includes: Ensenada, Rosarito and Tijuana. I am visiting Ensenada in August and have never been to Mexico. I've gotten mixed responses about my trip, many saying it's safe just be.
